TULSA, Okla. – Texas A&M men’s tennis duo Trey Hilderbrand and Noah Schachter advanced to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association doubles quarterfinals, Thursday afternoon at the Case Tennis Center.
Schachter-Hilderbrand, ranked No. 21, upset No. 27 Max Westphal-Theo Winegar (Columbia) in thrilling fashion, 7(7)-6(2), 7(7)-6(5). The win advances the duo to the quarterfinals on Friday to face Tanapatt Nirundorn-Togan Tokac (Florida) at a time later to be determined.
In singles action, No. 19 Schachter fell to No. 13 Filip Planinsek (Alabama) in three sets, 3-6, 6-2, 3-6, in the consolation bracket.
On Wednesday, No. 50 Hilderbrand advanced to the round of 16 in the consolation bracket after No. 23 Alexander Hoogmartens withdrew from the round of 32 due to injury. Hilderbrand’s next match time has yet to be determined.
