CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Graduate student Michael Heller and senior Faris Khan defeated Oscar Pinto and German Samofalov of VCU, 6-2, in the doubles finals to highlight the second day at the Tom Chewning Invitational.
Heller also collected a singles win after sweeping Furman’s Emil Westing in straight sets 6-2, 7-5. The Boca Raton, Fla., native faces Harry Thursfield in the final round of singles action on Sunday at 9 a.m.
Sophomore and No. 18-ranked Pedro Rodenas improved to 2-0 on the weekend after besting No. 57 Matisse Bobichon of VCU in his final matchup 7-5, 6-2.
Freshman Alexander Visser battled VCU’s Pinto in his second contest on the weekend but dropped a 6-2, 6-3 decision. Visser will take on Furman’s Thomas Kennedy in his final singles match on Sunday.
