Hamner to Play in Regional Draw Title Match – University of South Carolina Athletics

Winston-Salem, N.C.  – South Carolina women’s tennis sophomore Sarah Hamner will play in the ITA Carolina Region title match for the A2 Draw on Monday.

Hamner took down NC State’s Amelia Rajecki in the A2 Draw semifinals on Sunday to advance to the draw’s title match. Hamner endured a three-set battle after she won the first set 6-2 and Rajecki evened the match by blanking Hamner in the second set. The Gamecock then went on to take the third set and match with another 6-2 set win.

Hamner, the No. 1 seed in the A2 bracket, has taken down four straight opponents to earn her spot in the draw’s title match. Through four matches, the sophomore has earned a pair of straight-sets wins as well as a pair of matches that needed three sets for the decision.

Singles title matches at the Regional Championships will take place on Mon., Oct. 17. Hamner will face No. 6 Cameron Morra of Duke at 10 a.m.
