Columbia, S.C. – South Carolina women’s tennis juniors Sarah Hamner and Olympe Lancelot were named to the 2024 Academic All-District Women’s Tennis Team as selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC). The award recognized the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.
For Hamner, the honor marks the second time in as many years that she has earned the title. For Lancelot, this marks her first appearance on the Academic All-District list.
Hamner went on the be named a CSC Academic All-American in 2023 and has again been selected as a finalist for the prestigious honor. The 2024 Academic All-America honorees will be announced on June 4, 2024.
Hamner, an accounting major, has a near-perfect 3.9 GPA and has led her team in singles wins this season with a 31-8 record. She is 17-7 against ranked opponents this season and went 18-3 in dual matches. She has ranked as high as No. 4 in the nation in singles and No. 10 in doubles. In the fall, Hamner was a semifinalist at the ITA All-American Championships and a quarterfinalist at the ITA Fall National Championships.
Lancelot, a management major, also has a near-perfect 3.9 GPA and tallied a 19-16 singles record this season. The French native won 11 singles matches in dual play this season with a strong 8-3 showing in conference matches. Lancelot was also a force to be reconned with in doubles, having went 23-13 overall with 13 wins in dual matches. She ranked as high as No. 27 in the nation this season in doubles alongside Ayana Akli.
While Lancelot’s 2023-24 campaign is complete, Hamner will represent the program at the NCAA Singles and Doubles Tournaments in Stillwater, Okla., with Akli beginning on May 20.
