San Diego, Calif. – South Carolina women’s tennis sophomore Sarah Hamner wrapped up her fall season on Saturday, completing the last event of the semester for the team. Hamner concluded the season at the ITA Fall National Championships in San Diego, Calif., where she fell in the consolation semifinals.
Hamner advanced to the semifinals after her quarterfinals opponent withdrew from the competition. In the semifinals, No. 5 Chloe Beck of Duke took down No. 2 Hamner 6-2, 7-6(4).
The sophomore concludes her fall season with a 12-5 singles record featuring ranked wins over Nos. 6, 10, 16, 22, 35, 74, and 77. Hamner became the program’s second ITA Carolina Region Champion in October after working her way through five opponents at the regional championships.
The Gamecocks will be back in action for dual match play beginning in the spring.
