WACO, TX. – Sarah Hamner wrapped up the 2024 fall season for the Gamecocks on Wednesday afternoon at Baylor University after a tightly contested match in the round of 32 singles at the NCAA Individual Championship.
Hamner dropped her first set against No. 33 Katja Wiersholm of California Berkeley 4-6 but managed to bounce back for a dominant second set, winning 6-1 to tie the match up. The Gamecock started off slow for the third set, allowing Wiersholm to advance the score to 4-1 after earning three consecutive points. Hamner rallied for the next three points, preventing Wiersholm from scoring to tie the set up 4-4. The two went back and forth for the next four points before being sent to a tiebreaker where Hamner fought hard but ultimately dropped the set 6(6)-7.
