PISCATAWAY, N.J. — Rutgers women’s tennis graduate student, Yana Gurevich, has been named to the 2024 Women’s Tennis All-Big Ten Team, announced Wednesday by the conference office. The distinction marks the first time in program history a Scarlet Knight has earned All-Conference honors.

Freshman Naomi Karki was also named the team’s Big Ten Sportsmanship Award recipient for this season.

Gurevich has put together a strong campaign for the Scarlet Knights in her first year ‘On The Banks’. The Los Gatos, Calif., native has collected a team-leading 10 wins in both singles and doubles competitions. She also leads RU with five Big Ten singles wins, including the highest-ranked solo victory in program history over the 80th-ranked Maria Sholokhova of Wisconsin.

A mainstay at the top of RU’s lineup, Gurevich has competed throughout the top three spots all campaign. The transfer from UC Davis started the spring off at the No. 3 singles spot and has risen to become the Scarlet Knights’ everyday No. 1. She has also been competing at the first doubles spot in all but one of her appearances this season.

Rutgers earned the No. 12 seed for this year’s Big Ten Tournament and faces No. 13 seed Michigan State on Wednesday, April 24 in Ann Arbor, Mich.
