TEMPE – Roi Ginat and the doubles pairing of Jacob Bullard/Constantinos Koshis picked up victories Friday night in No. 42 ASU’s 6-1 home loss to the No. 9 USC Trojans. The Sun Devils took four singles matches to third sets in the loss. ASU is back Sunday at noon AZ to host No. 37 UCLA at the Whiteman Tennis Center.

How it happened
- Jacob Bullard and Constantinos Koshis came out the gate hot, earning a 6-1 win over Bradley Frye and Peter Makk. USC’s Ryan Colby and Stefan Dostanic then took a 6-2 win on court three over Spencer Brachman and Max McKennon. The doubles point came down to No. 2 where Wojtek Marek and Samuel Rubell edged out Roi Ginat and Murphy Cassone 7-5.
- Singles got away from the Sun Devils early. No. 4 Max McKennon and No. 5 Roi Ginat led 4-3, and 5-4 in their first sets. They both forced things to tiebreaks where Ginat won set one 7-5, but McKennon lost his opening set 7-6 (6). Ginat dropped the second set 5-6, but rallied in the third to get the 11-9 tiebreak victory. McKennon fought hard but ultimately dropped his final set 4-6.
- ASU lost the opening sets at No. 1, 2, 3 and 6, and Peter Makk was the first off with a 6-1, 6-0 sweep at No. 2 over Jacob Bullard. Murphy Cassone and Koshis had high energy throughout their fights, but neither could take the matches despite going the distance.
