Florida will open against Wake Forest in their journey to qualify for the ITA National Team Indoor Championship.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Florida men’s tennis team determined their destination for the 2024 ITA Kickoff Weekend during the draft on Thursday afternoon and selected the North Carolina Regional.
As the No. 22 ranked team in the country, the Gators selected sixth overall and claimed the No. 3 seed in Chapel Hill. UF will play Wake Forest on Jan. 27 before hopefully playing the winner of UNC and Illinois on Jan. 28.
The winner out of the North Carolina Regional will punch their ticket to the ITA National Team Indoor Championships on Feb. 16-19, hosted by Columbia University and the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
In last season’s ITA Kickoff Weekend, Florida hosted Mississippi State, SMU and USF in Gainesville. UF opened with a 4-1 win over USF and defeated Mississippi State 4-2 to qualify for ITA Indoors, where they earned a top-10 victory over Baylor. Since 2000, the Gators have qualified for ITA Indoors 18 times and were runner-up in 2003.
