Gators Travel to Nashville for Friday Showdown

NASHVILLE, TENN. — No. 13 Florida travels to No. 27 Vanderbilt for a Friday evening matchup against the Commodores. The Gators are looking to extend its seven-match win streak on the road after recently defeating Ole Miss 4-3, and Mississippi State 4-0.
 
ABOUT VANDERBILT
Ahead of Friday’s match, Vanderbilt is ranked No. 27 nationally. The Commodores are currently on a three-match win streak after securing wins over LSU (4-3), Arkansas (4-3), and Missouri (4-0).

Both the Gators and Vanderbilt have tallied losses against fellow SEC opponents Texas A&M and Auburn. The Commodores also fell 4-3 to the Crimson Tide this season whereas the Gators came out victorious at 4-0.

Currently Vanderbilt has two ranked singles players and two-ranked doubles pairs. In singles, Celia-Belle Mohr leads the way at No. 17 with a 26-7 record. Bridget Stammel is also in the top-100 at No. 75 and holds a 22-12 record.

In the double’s category, Vanderbilt’s court one duo Celia-Belle Mohr and Anessa Lee are ranked No. 25 with a season record of 25-10. The second ranked pair for the Commodores is Holly Staff and Valeria Ray standing at No. 69 with an 8-6 record.

LAST TIME OUT

Florida’s last match was against No. 30 Ole Miss on Mar. 31. The Gators defeated the Rebels 4-3 in an all-out battle at Alfred A. Ring Tennis Complex. Florida was able to secure the doubles point with wins on court one and three to give them an advantage heading into singles.

Rachel Gailis closed out first with a 6-1, 6-0 win to increase Florida’s lead to 2-0. Qavia Lopez was next to finish but saw a 6-4, 6-4 loss to get Ole Miss on the board at 2-1. Sophie Williams followed with a 7-6, 6-0 deficit to tie the score at 2-2. Carly Briggs gave Florida the advantage once more at 3-2 defeating her opponent in three sets, 6-3, 4-6, 6-1. Malwina Rowinska also faced a three-set battle but ultimately fell 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 before Alicia Dudeney clinched the match for the Gators. Dudeney won 5-7, 7-5, 6-0 on court three to put her conference record at 7-1.
