South Carolina is coming off of a successful run at the Wake Forest Fall Invitational last weekend. Hoole dominated his singles matches, overall winning the A3 draw stage. Additionally, all three doubles entered in the event (Connor Thomson & Casey Hoole, Max Stenzer & Atakan Karahan, Jelani Sarr & Lucas da Silva) swept the tournament after winning their respective stages. The Gamecocks made history as well, as Thomson became the new program record holder for combined singles and doubles victories after his performances at Wake Forest. The grad student has accumulated 199 wins so far throughout his time with Carolina.
Under the new format for NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships, players and doubles teams in the ITA Sectional Championships can qualify right into the NCAA Championships bracket. The six singles finalists in each section (central, east, south, west) will punch their ticket directly into the NCAA Singles Championships, and three doubles teams from each section will join them in the NCAA Doubles Championships.
