TALLAHASSEE — Florida State men’s tennis had two players earn All-ACC recognition as Antoine Cornut-Chauvinc was unanimously voted first-team All-ACC for singles and Cornut-Chauvinc and Joshua Dous-Karpenschif earned third-team all-conference honors for doubles, it was announced Monday.
Cornut-Chauvinc led Florida State with 16 dual wins this spring while playing at No. 1. With 11 wins over nationally ranked opponents, Cornut-Chauvinc anchored Florida State’s singles lineup and ascended as high as No. 2 in the national singles rankings, earning the highest singles ranking in program history.
Some highlights from Cornut-Chauvinc’s record-setting season include a match-clinching victory in a 4-3 win over Miami and defeating the No. 1 overall player Ethan Quinn in straight sets in a 5-2 win over No. 7 Georgia.
Cornut-Chauvinc was recognized three times during the season, earning ACC Player of the Week and Doubles Pair of the Week on January 17 and being named the conference’s Player of the Week again on January 31.
Cornut-Chauvinc and Dous-Karpenschif led the Seminoles with doubles victories despite not making their first doubles appearance together until March 12th. The duo has a 10-2 doubles record this spring including a 3-0 record at No. 1.
The pair’s late-season doubles dominance, finishing the season with six straight wins and a 9-1 record in their last 10 appearances, helped Florida State finish the season with seven wins in its last 10 matches. Cornut-Chauvinc and Dous-Karpenschif’s win streak included four ranked wins, including a 6-1 victory over the No. 13 doubles pair from North Carolina in the ACC Quarterfinal.
