AUBURN, Ala. – Two Mississippi State freshmen picked up a pair of wins during the first day of qualifying at the ITA Southern Regional Championships on Thursday.

Landry’s second-round match in the early afternoon also went to three sets. He won the first set 7-5 but Louisiana’s Alejandro Sanchez Gonzalez evened things with a 6-2 victory in the second. Sanchez Gonzalez went on to outlast Landry 10-8 in a third set super tiebreaker to advance.
