GREENSBORO, N.C. – Senior Page Freeman earned the Atlantic Coast Conference’s Player of the Week award for her efforts last weekend. Freeman led the University of Notre Dame women’s tennis team to a split weekend against Big Ten Conference opponents Penn State and #22 Wisconsin. Freeman finished the weekend 1-1 in singles and 1-0 in her doubles results. This is the first ACC Player of the Week award for the Irish women this season, and the second of Freeman’s career.

Freeman and the Irish got the weekend started with a 4-1 victory over Penn State at Eck Tennis Pavilion Friday night. Freeman started the match with a 6-3 win over Sofiya Chekhylstova and Carla Girbau at No. 1 doubles with partner Bojana Pozder. She followed that with a straight-set victory over Chekhylstova, ranked 50th in the nation, 6-4 7-6 (9).

The Irish dropped a tough match to the Wisconsin Badgers Sunday. Freeman’s doubles match went unfinished as she was tied at six with the 60th ranked doubles team of Ava Markham and Maria Sholokhova. She dropped her singles match to #57 Markham, battling for three sets.

Freeman and the Irish are back in action this Friday as they host Georgia Tech at the Eck Tennis Pavilion, with doubles action beginning at 3:30 p.m.
