Four Bulldogs Reach Main Draw In Fayetteville

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark., – Four Mississippi State players will be representing the Bulldogs in the main draw of the International Tennis Federation Fayetteville 15K.

Carles Hernandez was an automatic qualifier for the main draw while Gregor Ramskogler, Petar Jovanovic and Benito Sanchez Martinez punched their tickets on Tuesday.

Ramskogler secured the first victory of the day by beating former Ole Miss standout Finn Reynolds of New Zealand in straight sets 6-2, 6-4.

For Jovanovic and Sanchez Martinez to advance however, the two freshmen had to do so over their Bulldog teammates. Jovanovic defeated Nemanja Malesevic 6-1, 7-6(5) for his second victory of the tournament while Sanchez Martinez topped Ewen Lumsden 6-4, 6-4.

Sanchez Martinez moves on to meet Baylor’s Finn Bass in the first round of the main draw on Wednesday while Jovanovic is set to face Sander Jong of TCU. Ramskogler will matchup with former Wisconsin product Osgar O’Hoisin of Ireland and Hernandez goes head-to-head against Great Britain’s Blu Baker.
