Florida women’s tennis has been slated to host the initial two rounds of the NCAA Tournament. The Gators were seeded as No. 14 making Gainesville a host site for the 23rd time in program history.
After the Regional Championships (May 3-5), the Super Regional play will begin the following weekend and determine the eight teams who will earn their spot into the NCAA National Championships. The quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals will all be held at the Greenwood Tennis Center in Stillwater, Oklahoma from May 17-20.
The Gators will begin their NCAA Tournament journey facing Stetson University. This will be the first time the two teams have seen each other since 2009, where Florida defeated the Hatters 6-1 marking a 4-0 winning streak over Stetson for the Orange and Blue.
ABOUT THE COMPETITION
An un-ranked Stetson team will enter the matchup with a 15-6 overall record and is undefeated (10-0) in the ASUN conference. In Stetson’s last matchup, the Hatters defeated Florida Gulf Coast 4-1, to claim the ASUN conference regular season tournament championship.
The second match will be between No. 22 Miami (11-7) and No. 28 FIU (19-2).
