TALLAHASSEE – The Florida State women’s tennis team has been selected as the No. 2 seed in the Texas region for the 2024 ITA Kickoff Weekend.
Florida State will face No. 3 seed SMU in the opening round. The winner will face either No. 1 seed Texas or No. 4 seed Baylor in the single-elimination event.
The 15th annual ITA Kickoff Weekend takes place January 26-29, 2024, at 15 various host sites across the nation. The winner of the Texas region secures a spot in the 2024 ITA Division I National Team Indoor Championships at the Nordstrom Tennis Center and Seattle Tennis Club in Seattle.
Last year, the Seminoles defeated Arkansas 4-3 and faced host and No. 7-ranked Stanford in the 2023 ITA Weekend Kickoff.
Florida State finished the season with 17 wins, which included three top-25 victories and a final ranking of No. 24 in the national team rankings.
SMU had a 16-9 record in the 2023 season and won the American Athletic Conference championship. The Mustangs ended the season ranked 35th in the nation.
Texas earned 24 wins and was crowned Big 12 champions in the 2023 season. The Longhorns were ranked No. 7 in the final team rankings.
Baylor accumulated 17 wins in the 2023 season and had a final ranking of No. 36.
