TALLAHASSEE – The Florida State women’s tennis team has a pair of ACC matches this weekend, hosting Wake Forest on Friday and North Carolina State on Sunday.
The Seminoles are 6-5 on the season, which includes a 4-1 record at home. Florida State enters this weekend’s matches ranked 48th in the national team rankings.
Florida State’s Vic Allen is coming off a 7-6 (3), 6-2 victory at No. 2 singles against Miami. Allen is 14-5 overall and is a perfect 6-0 at No. 2 singles this spring.
Junior Ellie Schoppe also claimed a victory 6-4, 6-7, 1-0 (14) in an epic super tiebreaker at No. 4 singles. Junior Anna Arkadanou is ranked 70th in the national singles rankings.
Wake Forest is 11-5 on the season and is ranked 19th in the national team rankings. Graduate student Anna Brylin leads the team with 12 wins and is ranked 42nd in the national singles rankings.
NC State comes into this weekend’s matchup with a 10-1 record and is ranked 5th in the nation. The Wolfpack are led by graduate student Alana Smith who is No. 9 in the national singles rankings and is one of five NC State players in the top-125 of the rankings.
Friday’s match against Wake Forest begins at 4:30 p.m. and Sunday’s match against NC State begins at noon. Admission to matches at the Scott Speicher Memorial Tennis Center is free. Live stats and video will be available on Seminoles.com.
