KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced its 2022-23 year-end academic awards on Monday morning with the Tennessee women’s tennis program having five individuals earn Scholar-Athlete acclaim and the team picking up All-Academic Team honors.

To be qualified for the award, a team must have a team GPA of 3.2 or above on a 4.0 scale. All student-athletes must be included in the calculation of the team. For the Lady Volunteers, the team carded a 3.59 GPA for the academic year.

Tennessee’s five individuals honored were Esther Adeshina, Lauren Anzalotta, Catherine Aulia, Ashtin Hara and Rebeka Mertena. Each of these distinguished student-athletes had a GPA in 2022-23 over 3.5.

The program has now had 55 ITA All-Academic Scholar-Athletes honorees and has been awarded All-Academic Team recognition 12 times. Since 2020, 27 Lady Vols have been recognized by the ITA. Tennessee has had five student-athletes or more earn recognition in a single year six times in program history.

Adeshina and Mertena each have earned All-Academic honors three times in their careers, becoming the fourth and fifth student-athletes to do so at UT. For Anzalotta, Aulia and Hara, they are each earning the award for the first time.
