Five Gators Named to SEC Academic Honor Rolls


Florida had at-least three Gators named to SEC Spring Academic Honor Roll for the 16th consecutive year and two Gators on the SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll for the second straight year.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Five Gators from the Florida men’s tennis team claimed 2023 Southeastern Conference Academic honors this spring, the league office announced.
 
With Nate Bonetto, Will Grant and Lukas Greif named to SEC Spring Academic Honor Roll, Florida had at-least three Gators honored for the 16th consecutive year. Greif claimed the award for the fourth time and Grant did so for the third time. Also, Bonetto notched the award for the first time, while totaling his second conference academic honor as he earned first-year previously.
 
Additionally, Jonah Braswell and Axel Nefve earned their place on the SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll, giving Florida two Gators on the Honor Roll for the second straight year.
 

Today’s announcement sets Florida’s record at 402 for total of student-athletes named to a 2022-23 SEC Academic Honor Roll, surpassing the previous record of 378 set in 2020-21. Between lacrosse, baseball, golf, softball, tennis and track & field, the University of Florida had an astounding 137 student-athletes named to the Spring SEC Academic Honor Roll and 80 student-athletes named to the Spring SEC First-Year Honor Roll.
 
To be recognized to the SEC Academic Honor Roll, each student-athlete must 1) have a GPA of 3.00 for either the preceding academic year or have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above at the nominating institution; 2) be on scholarship, a letterwinner or have participated on a varsity team for two years if non-scholarship; 3) have completed 24 semester hours of non-remedial credit at the nominating institution; and 4) have been a member of the varsity team for the sport’s entire NCAA Championship segment.
 
To be recognized to the SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll, each student-athlete must 1) have a GPA of 3.00 for either the preceding academic year or have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above at the nominating institution; 2) be on scholarship, a letterwinner; 3) have completed 24 semester hours of non-remedial credit at the nominating institution; and 4) have been a member of the varsity team for the sport’s entire NCAA Championship segment.
