Fenty and Ehrenschneider Finish Season in Top 16 at NCAA Doubles Championship

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Andrew Fenty and Nino Ehrenschneider of the University of Michigan men’s tennis team completed their season with a loss in the Round of 16 on Wednesday (May 25) at the NCAA Doubles Championship at the Kam Tennis Center.
The pair ran into a hot duo from Wake Forest, Jakob Schnaitter and Siddhant Banthia, who on Tuesday (May 24) knocked off the No. 7-ranked duo from USC. On Wednesday, the No. 35-ranked pair pushed past the No. 27-ranked Wolverines duo.
After each pair held serve to open the first set, Schnaitter/Banthia went on a run, taking the next five games for the 6-1 set.
Serving first in the second set, Fenty/Ehrenschneider went up 4-1 but could not hold on as the Wake pair went on another 5-0 run to win the set 6-4.
Fenty/Ehrenschneider finish their season with an 18-8 record and a 10-2 mark in regional play. They won matches at both the ITA Fall Nationals and the NCAA Doubles Championship, while guiding their team to the Big Ten Tournament Championship and a place in the NCAA Elite Eight.
