Duke Records Two Wins on Day Six of ITA All-American


TULSA, Okla. – Three Blue Devils remain active at the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla., on Thursday after picking up two additional ranked wins.
 
No. 18 sophomore Pedro Rodenas registered his second win at the tournament on Thursday when he defeated No. 27 Iiro Vasa of San Diego 6-2, 6-4. The Madrid, Spain, native advances to face a familiar foe in fellow Spaniard and No. 8 Inako Montes de la Torre of Virginia on Friday at 10 a.m. Central.
 
No. 10 Michael Heller and Andrew Zhang also picked up their second victory of the event after besting No. 28 Ryan Fishback and Alberto Orso of Virginia Tech. The graduate student pair secured a thrilling 7-6 (7) tiebreak win in the opening set before claiming a 7-5 win in the second frame to advance to the quarterfinals. The duo meets up with No. 31 Montes de la Torre and James Hopper of Virginia on Friday at 3:30 p.m. Central.
