Duke Records Three Singles Wins on Day One of Gator Fall Invite


GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Duke claims three singles wins on opening day of Gator Fall Invite at the Alfred A. Ring Tennis Complex on the campus of the University of Florida.
 
Sophomore Connor Krug and junior Andrew Dale both registered wins in the Orange bracket, while Jake Krug posted his first collegiate win over a nationally ranked foe.
 
C. Krug bested Central Florida’s top player in Lleyton Cronje 7-5, 6-0 before Dale defeated Kenta Miyoshi of Illinois in three sets 4-6, 6-2, 6-1. J. Krug grinded out a three-set thriller over No. 89 ranked Jan Galka of Auburn. After dropping the opening set 6-4, J. Krug battled back to secure 6-4, 6-2 victories to steal the win.
 
All three are back in action on Saturday for 9 a.m. matches. C. Krug faces Tanapatt Nirundorn of Florida, Dale competes against Lukas Greif of Florida and J. Krug battles Hunter Heck of Illinois. There will be two rounds of singles action on Saturday.
