Duke is coming off its fifth consecutive victory, including its second straight over North Carolina. The Blue Devils defeated their top-15 opponent, 5-2, to shift to 16-5 overall on the year and 9-1 in ACC play. Duke’s nine ACC wins ties it with five others for the second-most in program history and most since 2013.

Heading into the weekend, the Blue Devils have two players listed in the most recent ITA rankings in senior Garrett Johns (No. 14) and rookie Pedro Rodenas (No. 67). Johns holds a 12-8 dual ledger on Duke’s top court, including a 7-7 mark against nationally ranked opponents. Rodenas leads the Blue Devils in dual wins with a record of 19-2, including an impressive 10-0 mark on court two. In addition, the freshman has gone 5-3 against ranked foes.

The pair also team up in doubles play and rank as the No. 27 doubles team in the country. The twosome is 12-2 in dual doubles matches with a 5-0 record in ACC play and on the main court. Joining them in the most recent rankings were the senior duo of Michael Heller and Andrew Zhang, who secured the No. 44 spot. Heller and Zhang hold an 8-5 dual record and are 6-4 over their last 10 matches.

HISTORY WITH NO. 47 MIAMI

Friday’s contest will be the 51st all-time meeting between the two programs with the Blue Devils holding the slim 26-24 edge on the series. Duke has won the last two matches, including a 4-2 road victory just a season ago. The last Miami win came on March 22, 2019, when the Hurricanes defeated the Blue Devils 4-3 in Durham.
