Duke Caps Second Day at Wake Forest Invite

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Duke picked up seven Saturday wins at the Wake Forest Invite. The Blue Devils earned two doubles wins and five in singles.

The Duke doubles pair of Gerard Planelles Ripoll and Theo Winegar claimed the back draw in the A3 Bracket with a 6-4 win against Elon’s Jack Curtis and Veljko Krstic. Saahith Jayaraman and Alexander Visser also won the B2 Bracket’s back draw by downing Dung Em Oliver Dao and Lucas Bitzer of Tennessee Tech, 6-3.

In the second round of singles, Remy Dugardin downed Arsene Pougault of UNC Charlotte, 6-4, 7-5, to advance to the A2 Bracket semifinals before falling in straight sets. The A3 Bracket had Jayaraman, the fourth seed in the draw, topped Georgia Southern’s Pol Del Castillo, 6-4, 6-2, to move to the semifinals before dropping that decision.  

 

The Blue Devils close the event with final singles matches Sunday.
