Draws Announced for Individual NCAA Competition

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The draws for the 2024-25 NCAA Men’s Tennis NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships were released Saturday evening with Pedro Rodenas, Cooper Williams and Theo Winegar set to compete at the Hurd Tennis Center in Waco, Texas. This is year one of a two-year pilot for the singles and doubles championships to be conducted in the fall, with the team championships continuing to be in the spring.

Rodenas qualified by reaching the singles finals of the ITA Carolina Regional. The 2024 ITA Carolina Region Player to Watch received second team All-ACC singles honors in both 2023 and 2024. This will be Rodenas’ third NCAA individual appearance as he was a Singles All-America pick in 2023 and a Doubles All-America selection in 2024. Last spring, he advanced to the doubles quarterfinals with Garrett Johns as the two finished the year ranked No. 2 by the ITA. In 2023 as a singles representative at NCAAs, he advanced to the round of 16 before falling to No. 1 Eliot Spizzirri of Texas.

Rodenas begins this year’s trip versus No. 8 Aidan Kim of Ohio State on Tuesday.

Williams punched two tickets at the ITA Sectional Championship. The sophomore was the No. 2 seed in the singles bracket and advanced to the semifinals to secure his bid to the NCAA main event. He takes on Yale’s Vignesh Gogineni Tuesday in the opening round.

Williams and Winegar were declared sectional champions after a withdrawal in the finals. Williams did not drop a set in singles during his sectional march while Williams and Winegar also won all three matches in straight sets. The duo, seeded 5-8, starts the NCAA Doubles Championship on Wednesday facing Tanapatt Nirundorn and Henry Jefferson of Florida.
