STANFORD, Calif. – Oregon saw its doubles teams of Sophie Luescher and Uxia Martinez Moral along with Candela Aparisi and Karin Young each advance to the quarterfinals at the ITA Northwest Regionals, but their runs came to an end Sunday at the Taube Family Tennis Center.

Oregon and California were the only two teams in the field to have multiple doubles teams advance through to the quarterfinal round.

The nation’s 56th-ranked duo of Luescher and Martinez Moral defeated Fresno State’s Misaki Kobayashi and Carolina Piferi, 8-3, in the quarterfinals, the pair’s fourth straight win together this fall.

With a spot in the semifinal on the line, Luescher and Martinez Moral battled the draw’s top-seeded pair of Jessica Alsola and Katya Wiersholm from Cal. The Duck duo pushed the nation’s No. 9 doubles team to an 8-6 finish.

Aparisi and Young earned their third straight win of the tournament, ousting fellow Pac-12 tandem in Washington’s Dariya Detkovskaya and Erika Matsuda, 8-6,

The win earned the UO doubles team the right to face the nation’s 60th-ranked doubles pair, and another Pac-12 foe, in Connie Ma and Alexandra Yepifanova of Stanford. The Cardinal walked away with an 8-1 win to advance to Monday’s semifinal round.

Aparisi, a freshman, and Young, a junior, boast an impressive 4-1 doubles record together on the young fall campaign.
