GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Former Gator Diego Hidalgo will compete in the US Open Round of 64 with partner Alejandro Tabilo. The duo faces Lloyd Glasspool/Rinky Hijikata on August 28 with an estimated start time of 11 a.m. ET.

Hidalgo enters the US Open with an ATP rank of 76 and an 8-14 doubles record. Hidalgo is coming off strong performances at the RD Open earlier this month, winning all four matches with then-partner Miguel Reyes-Varela.

Hidalgo’s time at Florida was nothing short of successful. Hidalgo joined the Florida team in 2013 under former head coach Bryan Shelton. In his time with the Gators, Hidalgo posted a 64-26 overall doubles record, including a 25-5 tour record. Hidalgo also held his own during singles play notching a 34-17 overall record.

2016 was a year of highlights for Hidalgo as he secured several honors including being named the SEC Player of Year. Hidalgo proved to be fearless on the court as he defeated 12 ranked ITA players and 9 ranked doubles pairs. At the conclusion of the season, Hidalgo had a combined 60 wins that currently ranks sixth all-time in program history. His success did not end there, as he became the first Gator since Alexandre Lacroix to receive All-American honors in singles and doubles in the same season.
