Deacons Drop Friday Test Against Visiting Eagles

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Making a return to its tennis center for the first time in nearly four weeks, Wake Forest women’s tennis brought in Boston College (10-8, 3-7) on Friday evening (March 31) for its eighth Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) matchup of the spring. After falling in doubles, the Demon Deacons clawed back in spurts during singles play but fell short in a 5-2 decision by the visitors.

Wake Forest moved to 12-9 overall, now 3-5 against conference opponents.

Anna Brylin grabbed her 14th solo win this season, currently leading the team in that category. The graduate student has only dropped four completed matches.

Nevena Carton enjoyed a dominant, individual performance on Friday, piecing her 10th victory in singles. That particular win now has the freshman ranking second on the roster.

Wake Forest leads the all-time series 14-7 over Boston College.

 

How it Happened

  • No. 26 Anna Brylin/Brooke Killingsworth and Nevena Carton worked to cut into a deficit within first and third doubles, respectively, narrowly trailing 4-3.



  • Brylin/Killingsworth created the first tied score of the afternoon (4-4) before taking the lead after winning a third straight game, as the Deacs rallied.

  • The Eagles completed the deed in doubles with wins on courts two and three, happening in a quick time frame.



  • Carton wasted zero time in singles, winning her first four games.

  • Brylin also had a strong start, leading 3-1, while Killingsworth came back to tie her opening frame at 3 even.

  • Carton was the first individual to win a set, doing so in a 6-0 sweeping…
