Day 5 Of ITA All-American Championships Concludes

CARY, N.C. – Mississippi State women’s tennis had one player participate in the main draw of singles at the ITA All-American Championships Wednesday afternoon.

No. 52 Emmanouela Antonaki began singles play at the Cary Tennis Park where she took on Anika Yarlagadda of North Carolina. Antonaki took the first set 6-3, but Yarlagadda came back to take the next two sets 6-3, 6-3.

“It was a close and great match today,” associate head coach Sachin Kirtane said. “Both girls competed well. Emmanouela [Antonaki] hung in the match and gave herself a chance to win. If she keeps on making this progress, the wins are just a matter of time with her talent and ball striking abilities.”

Antonaki moves to the main draw consolation round where she will take on Amelia Rajecki of North Carolina State. The match starts at 10 a.m. CT on Thursday, Oct. 6.

The ITA All-American Championships is the second tournament State has participated in this fall. For Antonaki, this is the first tournament of the fall that she has competed in.
