SEATTLE – Tickets to the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships will be punched at the Nordstrom Tennis Center starting this Thursday as Washington hosts the ITA Northwest Regional Championships. The Huskies will play host to the tournament along with the Seattle Tennis Club from Oct. 17-22.

This is the first year when the individual NCAA Championships are held in the fall, separated from the team championships in the spring, and the ITA Regionals are now one of the ways for players to play their way into the field. The two singles finalists and the doubles champions this week in Seattle will qualify for NCAAs, which are set for Nov. 19-24 in Waco, Texas.

This year Regionals will feature a main draw in singles and doubles, as well as qualifying rounds for players to advance into the main draw. The region includes teams from UW, Stanford, California, Oregon, Gonzaga, Pacific, Portland, Portland State, Sacramento State, Saint Mary’s, Santa Clara, Seattle U., and UC Davis.

Play is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. on Thursday-Saturday, 9 a.m. on Sunday, and 10 a.m. on Monday and Tuesday.

All eight Huskies will be competing at home this weekend. Entered directly into the main draw are Cesar Bouchelaghem, Dzianis Zharyn, Nedim Suko, Ivan Sodan, and Soham Purohit. Brett Perason, Rohan Belday, and Nikola Plavsic will open up in the qualifying rounds.
