Dawgs Finish Day One Of ITA Northwest Regionals


STANFORD, Calif. – The Washington women’s tennis team went 4-0 in doubles in the first round of the ITA Northwest Regionals Friday morning at Taube Family Tennis Stadium on Stanford’s campus.
 
All four doubles pairs will move on to the round of 32 on Saturday. Start times are to be announced.
 
Astrid Olsen went 2-0 in singles, defeating Visaya (San Francisco) in the opening round and Chan (Oregon) in the second round to secure herself a spot in the round of 32 Saturday at 10:30 a.m. PT against Houghton (Stanford).
 
Alexia Jacobs, Erika Matsuda, and Dariya Detkovskaya also etched their spots in tomorrow’s action after notching two wins each Friday. 

FIRST ROUND RESULTS

Doubles

– Olson/Jacobs (UW) def. Kalinic/Tevez (Santa Clara), 8-5

– Matsuda/Detkovskaya (UW) def. Espinal/Wernli (Gonzaga), 8-4

– Sakar/Fortin (UW) def. Pearson/Watanabe (Portland), 8-0

– Lin/Gagnon (UW) def. Richardson/Filip (San Francisco), 8-6
