Dawgs Close Out Regionals - University of Washington Athletics

SEATTLE – ITA Northwest Regionals wrapped up in the Nordstrom Tennis Center this afternoon with a trio of Huskies in action. Jim Hendrikx dropped a tight match in singles while Brett Pearson and Nedim Suko fell in a third set super-tiebreak in the qualifying round for doubles.

The Dawgs were aiming to earn spots at ITA Northwest Super Regionals but came up just short. As it stands, Cesar Bouchelaghem, Dzianis Zharyn, and Han-Chih Lin will be in the mix as auto-qualifiers.

Hendrikx faced top-seed Ray Lo of Oregon. Hendrikx had an early 3-0 lead and led 5-3, but Lo rallied to take the first set, 7-5, and won set two, 6-4.

Today doubles switched to a best of three sets format, with a 10-point tiebreak at one set apiece. That was needed for the Dawgs, as Pearson/Suko won the first set, 6-3, over Roider/Gomez Galvan of Gonzaga, but lost set two. The Zags won the tiebreak, 10-6.
