FLUSHING, N.Y. – Despite multiple weather delays and her second deciding tiebreak in as many matches, North Carolina senior Fiona Crawley advanced to the third round of the US Open qualifying tournament after she defeated Timea Babos of Hungary, 6-2, 3-6, 7-6(10-5) in her second round matchup.
Crawley picked up her second-straight Grand Slam match victory yesterday and is on the cusp of qualifying for the US Open Singles Main Draw.
On Saturday, Crawley is set to face 13th seed Kimberly Birrell of Australia in the third round of the Main Draw Qualifying tournament. The winner of the match will secure a spot in the 2023 US Open Women’s Main Draw Singles tournament.
