SAN DIEGO – North Carolina junior Fiona Crawley is the top seed in the singles field at the 2022 ITA Fall National Championships that will run Nov. 2-6 from the Barnes Tennis Center.
Crawley is joined in the singles field by Tar Heel teammates Abby Forbes, the No. 3 seed in the singles field, Carson Tanguilig and Anika Yarlagadda. Meanwhile, Crawley and Tanguilig have earned the No. 2 seed in the doubles draw.
Crawley rightly earned the No. 1 seed after her brilliant play the last two months where she won singles titles against arguably the two most difficult fields put together in the fall campaign. Both victories came at Cary Tennis Park, the first coming at the Wolfpack Invitational in late September, and two weeks later at the ITA All-American Championships.
This quartet will attempt to add their name to an impressive list of previous winners from Carolina’s powerhouse program. Jamie Loeb was the first to win the singles championship back in 2013 and later was joined in consecutive seasons by title winners Sara Daavettila in 2019 and Alexa Graham in 2020.
Hayley Carter and Whitney Kay won the doubles event in 2015 and last fall Crawley and Elizabeth Scotty brought the trophy back to Chapel Hill in 2021.
Action gets underway Wednesday morning and continues through Sunday’s finals that will be played from Stadium Court.
All of the action from the 2022 ITA Fall National Championships will be streamed on the Cracked Racquets YouTube Page. Links to the live streams can be found on the Event Page.
