Tight tests don’t scare Elisabetta Cocciaretto.

The second-seeded Cocciaretto rallied for a 6-7(3), 7-6(6), 7-5 win over Anna Bondar to reach her her second final of the season at the Ladies Open Lausanne.

Rain delayed play and created heavy conditions on the red clay.

Bondar battled through the first-set tiebreaker. In the second set, Cocciaretto asserted her aggression a bit more knocking off a smash to take the second-set tiebreaker and force a decider.

Despite wearing taping around her right shoulder and left thigh, Cocciaretto was moving smoothly in the final set. Pushing Bondar corner-to-corner she provoked an error to break back for 3-3 in the decider.

Cocciaretto reeled off eight of the last 10 points to secure a spot in her second final of the season and first since she was runner-up to Lauren Davis in the Hobart final last January. Cocciaretto improved to 18-13 on the season, including a 5-4 record in three-setters.

The world No. 42 will play a Frenchwoman, either Diane Parry or Clara Burel, in tomorrow’s Lausanne final.
