CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson women’s tennis team (5-1) returns to the Duckworth Family Tennis Facility as they will take on Georgia Southern on Friday at 1 p.m. The live stream for the match is available here.
Clemson and Georgia Southern have only met twice, with the Tigers sweeping both matches. Most recently, the teams met last season with Clemson taking the match 7-0.
Clemson is coming off a 1-1 ITA Kickoff Weekend in Malibu, in which the Tigers earned a huge win over Columbia by a score of 4-0. Cristina Mayorova has been sensational to start the season, boasting a 5-1 singles record playing primarily from Court 2.
The Tigers return eight student-athletes from last year’s roster, including Samantha Buyckx and Jenna Thompson who make up the No. 50 ITA ranked doubles pair in the nation. Clemson also welcomes newcomer Leigh Van Zyl to the fray. The native of South Africa will look to make an immediate impact on Head Coach Amy Sargeant’s squad.
