Clemson Advances at ACC Men's Tennis Championship


CARY, N.C. (theACC.com) – Clemson and Louisville earned wins on Wednesday in their first-round matches of the 2023 Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Tennis Championship in Cary, North Carolina.
 
No. 12 Clemson moves on to play No. 5 Florida State on Thursday. First serve between the Tigers and Seminoles is set for 3:30 p.m.
 
No. 12 Clemson 4, No. 13 Boston College 1
Boston College jumped out to a 1-0 lead after earning the doubles point with two 6-2 victories. Mason Fung and Jake Vassel earned the first win on Court Two and the No. 56 duo of Juan Jose Bianchi and Max Motlagh took the second on Court One.
 
No. 93 Ryuhei Azuma evened the score for Clemson earning a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Motlagh on Court One. Trey Stinchcomb and Spencer Whitaker pushed the Tigers’ lead to 3-1 with wins on Court Six and Court Three, respectively. Nini Dica sealed the victory for Clemson on Court Five with a 7-5, 6-4 victory over the Eagles’ Jake Vassel.
 

Second-round play will be held Thursday, starting at 3:30 p.m. with No. 8 Miami versus No. 9 Georgia Tech and No. 5 Florida State versus the Clemson-Boston College winner. At 6 p.m., No. 7 Louisville takes on No. 10 Notre Dame and No. 6 Wake Forest faces off with No. 11 Virginia Tech.

 

The quarterfinals start at 3:30 p.m. Friday with top-seeded Virginia facing off with the Miami-Georgia Tech winner and No. 4 North Carolina battling Boston College, Clemson or Florida State. The 6 p.m. quarterfinals feature No. 2 Duke playing the Louisville-Notre Dame winner and No. 3 NC State battling the Wake Forest-Virginia Tech winner.

 

The semifinals will be played at 2 p.m. Saturday, with the championship match slated for 2 p.m. Sunday.

 

The Saturday semifinal match featuring the highest remaining seed and the Sunday championship match will broadcast live on ACC Network Extra.

 

Single day tickets are priced at $10 for adults (ages 18 and older; children under 9 and ACC students get in free with school ID) and $7 for youth ages 17 and under.
