Cooperative weather was welcomed following a Saturday in which the Cardinal attempted to play Colorado for nearly six hours, starting and stopping the match numerous time due to intermittent showers, before ultimately calling it after the final downpour came through around 6 p.m.
Sunday’s victory over the Utes was Stanford’s first in more than two weeks, following its customary break for final exams. The Cardinal secured the doubles point, getting 6-2 wins on courts one and two from Connie Ma and Alexandra Yepifanova, and Angelica Black and India Houghton.
Houghton ended up clinching the match in singles on court five with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Ana Luiza Cruz. Her fourth clinching point of the season is tied with Alexis Blokhina for the team high.
Katherine Hui at No. 3 (6-0, 6-2) and Connie Ma at No. 2 (6-0, 6-1) made quick work of their opponents to snag the first two singles points for Stanford. Ma has reeled off 11 consecutive wins and is 12-1 in duals this season.
The Cardinal is back in action next weekend when it hosts No. 16 UCLA and No. 9 USC on Friday and Saturday.
