THE FLATS – Keshav Chopra led the Georgia Tech men’s tennis team on day two of the ITA Southeast Regionals as he cruised through the first two rounds of main draw singles.
Chopra claimed a quick two-set win in the first round, defeating Kennesaw State’s Seru Tezuka 6-2, 6-1. In the second-round matchup versus Florida Atlantic’s Joao Graca, he started off strong with a 6-1 win in the first set. Despite falling 4-6 in the second, Chopra outlasted dominated Graca with a final 6-1 victory. Chopra will face Georgia’s Teo Giusca on Saturday at 11:30 a.m.
After a walkover win, Robert Bauer and Chopra will continue to represent Tech in the main draw doubles. The duo will take on Florida’s Jonah Braswell and Lukas Greif tomorrow at 4:30 p.m. Tech’s other doubles pairing, Marcus McDaniel and Elias Shokry fell 8-4 to Florida State’s Antoine Cornut Chauvinc and Joshua Dous Karpenschif.
McDaniel and Rohan Sachdev ended their main draw singles runs today in the second round of play. McDaniel took down Stetson’s Juan Jose Rodriguez 7-6 [5], 3-6, 6-1 in the first round, but was ultimately defeated in two sets by South Florida’s Davide Tortora. Sachev was handed a 6-3, 6-3 loss by North Florida’s Matthew Carroll but will have a chance to compete in consolation play on Saturday.
