Chidekh Finishes As All-American – University of Washington Athletics

SEATTLE — Clement Chidekh wrapped up his Husky career with the highest honor in the sport, as he became the ninth Husky player named All-America by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. Chidekh is the first Husky All-American since 2013, and he finished his 2021-22 season ranked 14th nationally, having been as high as the No. 1 spot.

Chidekh, the native of Lyon, France, will be turning professional and foregoing his final year of eligibility. He was a two-time All-Pac-12 First Team pick with a 42-10 singles record over two seasons, and a 30-16 doubles record. His 28 singles wins this year tied for sixth-most in a single season in school history. Chidekh’s singles winning percentage of .807 ranks first in school history. No other player with at least forty matches played achieved an 80-percent win rate.

Earning ITA All-AMerica honors requires one of the following: finishing in the top-20 in the final singles rankings, reaching the NCAA round of 16 in singles, or being one of the top-16 seeds for the NCAA Championships. Chidekh achieved the first and third of those this season. In spite of losing in the first round of the NCAA Singles Championship, Chidekh made the semifinals of the two prior majors in the fall, the first Husky to reach the semis of both in the same year.

He became the first Husky ranked No. 1 on Feb. 23.
