STANFORD, Calif. – The Oregon men’s tennis team saw success in singles play of the ITA Super Regionals on Friday.
Joshua Charlton started things off for the Ducks with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 win over Cal’s Lucas Magnaudet. Ivailo Keremedchiev also picked up a victory over a player from Cal, defeating Derrick Chen 6-2, 7-5.
In the afternoon matches, Charlton picked up a straight set win over Portland’s Eleftherios Neos (6-1, 6-2) and will play in the quarterfinals matches at 3 p.m. on Saturday. Keremedchiev followed suit with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Han-Chih Lin of Washington. His match is also set for 3 p.m. tomorrow.
Jesper Klov-Nilsson battled in a three-set defeat to Arthur Neuhaus, while Quinn Vandecasteele was narrowly defeated in a 6-4, 6-7(1), 7-6(5) match that lasted over two hours.
Doubles play starts at 10 a.m. with Klov-Nilsson and Keremedchiev teaming up, along with Vandecasteele and Charlton.
