Fullerton, Calif. – No. 46 Arizona defeated No. 64 CSU Fullerton 4-3 for the first time ever. This was the first matchup between the two teams which ended with a Wildcat win.
The Cats came out successful in doubles and singles play. Khim Iglupas and Kayla Wilkins finished first 6-1 against Eira Tobrand and Mariia Nikitash. Freshmen pair Midori Castillo and Belen Nevenhoven finalized the doubles point in 7-6 (2) tiebreaker against Juliette Daries and Kaytlin Taylor.
It was a back-and-forth battle in singles play against the Titans that saw all the matches go to only two sets. Wilkins took the first singles point for Arizona with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Natalie Duffy. Iglupas snagged the second singles point after she defeated Nikitash 6-3, 6-2. Salma Ziouti clinched the match against Fullerton with her 6-2, 6-4 singles win over YuSeung Suh.
The women will finish out the rest of their regular season in a rivalry match against Arizona State on Saturday, April 16 at noon.
