LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The Arizona men’s tennis team secured its second Pac-12 win of the season on Sunday, defeating No. 24 UCLA 4-1.
The Wildcats made quick work of the doubles point, No. 24 Jay Friend and Colton Smith defeating Timothy Li and Giacomo Revelli, 6-2, before Sasha Rozin and Gustaf Strom took down Govind Nanda and Jorge Plans Gonzalez in a 6-2 decision.
The Bruins were able to get on the board first in singles when Spencer Johnson defeated No. 80 Strom in straight sets, 6-3, 6-0.
Arizona followed that up with three straight singles wins to secure the team win. No. 14 Smith posted a ranked win, defeating No. 28 Govind Nanda 6-3, 6-4 before 26th-ranked Friend charted a 5-7, 6-4, 6-2 win over Revelli.
No. 97 Herman Hoeyeraal clinched the victory with a 4-6, 6-2, 7-6(2) takedown of Gianluca Ballotta.
The Cats will be back in action Friday, March 29 at 2:00 p.m. MST against No. 59 California.
