Last Time Around – The Wildcats host the Bruins and Trojans for the last time at home in a nationally ranked battle. Arizona has not faced UCLA since 2021 as their regular season match was canceled last spring and they did not face each other in the tournament. They defeated the Westwood L.A. school for the first time ever in 2010. Last March, the ‘Cats made history when they clinched 4-3 against USC on Trojan turf. Arizona aims to maintain their winning streak against the SoCal schools and remain undefeated at LaNelle.
Stacked Setup – Arizona is staying steady in the top 20 team rankings as well as in the individual ranks where they’ve had at least four players consistently show up since the preseason poll in November 2022. #45 Jonas Ziverts, #80 Colton Smith, #91 Nick Lagaev and #118 Herman Hoeyeraal represent the Wildcats in singles, and in doubles it’s #67 Ziverts/Hoeyeraal and #73 Ziverts/Jay Friend. UCLA has one ranked Bruin, #61 Alexander Hoogmartens, and USC has three Trojans spread out in the singles and doubles rankings: #26 Peter Makk, #32 Stefan Dostanic, #124 Bradley Frye and #21 Dostanic/Frye.
What’s Ahead – After hosting a historic weekend of conference play, the ‘Cats move on to host their final two home matches against #64 Oregon on Friday, April 7 at 3 p.m. and #48 Washington on Sunday, April 9 at 12 p.m. MT. Arizona will celebrate its seniors against the Huskies in Sunday’s match.
