Cards Win Three at Day Two of John Cade Invitational


STARKVILLE, Miss. – The University of Louisville women’s tennis team had two wins in doubles against Louisiana Tech and one in singles against Memphis on the second day of the John Cade Invitational hosted by Mississippi State in Starkville, Miss. 
 
The Cards opened Saturday morning play with a 2-1 win in doubles against Louisiana Tech. Jamilah Snells and Cici Xin beat Olga Bienzobas and Ana Rodrigues 8-2. Arielle Nealy and Rhea Verma beat Leonie Schuknecht and Iliana Tetruashvili 8-6. Sasha Gorchanyuk and Tyra Richardson fell to Alexia Romero and Valentina Vasquez 8-5. 
 
UofL lost the singles match against Memphis 5-1. Gorchanyuk won the lone match against Madelyn Bernisderfer 1-6, 6-4, 6-4. Verma fell to Emmanouela Antonaki 6-3, 6-4. Snells fell to Gia Cohen 6-3, 6-0. Xin fell to Alexandra Mikhailuk 1-6, 6-4, 6-0. Richardson fell to Dharani Niroshan 6-2, 6-7 (5-7), 7-6 (7-3). Joy Callwood fell to Emily Surcey 6-2, 6-1.

Tournament Information
Scoring Format
Doubles – Matches will be one pro set (tiebreak at 7-7), no-ad scoring
Singles – Matches will be best of three regular tiebreak sets, no-ad scoring
 
Order of Play/Draws –  You can access tournament info during the weekend on the ITA website here. Coaches, please let us know of any errors or changes in the matchups and scores we send out each day. We will make sure all results are entered into the ITA system.
 
Live video & scoring – will be available at www.HailState.com/livewt and our plan is to provide archive video links for all matches to you (via email). NOTE: We are currently experiencing technical issues with our cameras on outdoor courts 1,2 & 4, so we will not be able to provide video from those three courts this weekend.
