Cards Place Six as ITA Scholar Athletes and Earn Team Award


 LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The University of Louisville women’s tennis team earned academic recognition when the Cardinals were named as an Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Academic Team. In addition, six Cards were named ITA Scholar Athletes.
 
Joy Callwood, Dina Chaika, Sasha Gorchanyuk, Tyra Richardson, Chelsea Sawyer, and Tatiana Simova earned individual honors as ITA Scholar Athletes.
 
Programs earning ITA All-Academic Team status must have a collective grade point average of 3.2 or above for the current academic year. ITA Scholar Athletes must have a GPA of 3.5 or above for the academic year.
 
Within the sport of tennis, student-athletes continue to exceed expectations in the classroom and on the court. In 2022, 1,517 Division I Women’s student-athletes were named an ITA Scholar-Athlete and 250 women’s tennis programs were awarded the All-Academic Team distinction.
