Cards Earn ITA Academic Honors


LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The University of Louisville men’s tennis team continued to collect academic recognition, earning Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Academic Team honors while four individuals were named ITA Scholar Athletes.
 
Programs earning ITA All-Academic Team status must have a collective grade point average of 3.2 or above for the current academic year. ITA Scholar Athletes must have a GPA of 3.5 or above for the academic year.

UofL posted a team GPA of 3.261 in the spring semester, marking the 20th straight semester with a 3.0 or better.

 

Representing the Cardinals on the ITA All-Academic Team are: Tin Chen, Sergio Hernandez, Josh Howard-Tripp and Alex Wesbrooks.

The Cardinals achieved impressive results on the court in the 2021-22 campaign, finishing the season with an 19-9 overall record and an at-large berth in the NCAA tournament. Louisville reached the semifinals of the ACC Championship for the first time in program history after earning the No. 4 seed with a program-best nine wins in conference play.  

The Cards returned to the NCAA tournament for the first time since the 2017 season and were one of the best home teams in the ACC, posting a 12-1 record at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center. As a team, the Cardinals appeared in the ITA team rankings 11 times, with a season-high ranking of 23.
