SAN DIEGO, Calif. – University of Louisville graduate senior Fabien Salle advanced to the singles consolation quarterfinals and paired with sophomore Natan Rodrigues to reach the consolation doubles quarterfinals on day two of the 2022 Intercollegiate Tennis Association National Fall Championship Thursday at the Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego.
In singles action, Salle moved to the consolation quarterfinals with a 3-6, 6-0, 6-2 win over VCU’s Matisse Bobichon.
Rodrigues lost his main draw match 6-0, 6-2 to Utah’s Geronimo Busleiman, who stand at No. 71 in the ITA preseason rankings.
In the doubles main draw, senior Mizrahi and freshman Will Mayew battled with Columbia’s No. 21-ranked pair of Max Westphal and Theo Winegar in the round of 16. After dropping the first set 6-2, the Mizrahi and Mayew fell behind 4-1 in the second set, but rallied to a 7-6 (3) win to force a decisive third set which the Columbia duo prevailed 10-7.
Salle and Rodrigues, No. 48 in the ITA preseason doubles rankings, defeated Simon Junk and John Hallquist (Ole Miss) 6-3, 6-3 to reach the consolation quarterfinals.
