Cardinals Wrap Up Martha Thorn Invitational


MORGANTOWN, W.V. – The University of Louisville women’s tennis team ended play at the Martha Thorn Invitational with five wins on Sunday.
 
In the only competition of the day, the Cardinals won 5-1 against JMU and Penn State in singles. Andrea Di Palma retired in her No. 1 singles match against Kylie Moulin of JMU. Rhea Verma won at No. 2 singles against Karly Friedland of Penn State 6-2, 4-6, 10-7. At No. 3 singles, Cici Xin defeated Ioana Gheorghita of Penn State 6-2, 6-1. Maria Campos beat Alina Lebedeva of Penn State at No. 4 singles 0-6, 6-4, 10-6. Tyra Richardson, playing at No. 5 singles, beat Alexandra Prudente of JMU 6-3, 6-1. Sasha Gorchanyuk won No. 6 singles against Hayley Glen of JMU 6-7 (4-7), 6-2, 10-4. 
 
UofL is back in action on Oct. 19 for the ITA Ohio Valley Regionals. The five day tournament will take place in Knoxville, Tenn.
